A combination of carved linocut in black, with hand-cut screenprint stencils giving colour over the top. Printed on acid-free Fabriano paper, using eco-friendly inks.
This artwork depicts a nesting pair of Australasian gannets or Takapu at the iconic Muriwai beach on Auckland's wild west coast.
At nesting time, from August to March, thousands of gannets pair, breed and nest on the near-vertical cliffs at Muriwai.

Vivien is a successful full-time artist and printmaker working from her studio on Auckland’s north shore.
Having trained as a textile designer in the UK, she now works predominantly in print media, producing small limited edition original prints on her etching press. These may be her lino/woodcuts and screenprint combinations or her unique etchings, monoprints and drypoints with chine collé; utilising papers, fabrics and found items.
Her passion for the New Zealand native environment - the birdlife, flora and fauna and her proximity to the seashore, make these her chosen subjects.
Vivien is an active member of the Print Council of Aotearoa New Zealand and various other local printmaking groups. She exhibits widely within New Zealand.
