Description
Original screenprint & linocut.
A combination of carved linocut in black, with hand-cut screenprint stencils giving colour over the top. Printed on acid-free Fabriano paper, using eco-friendly inks.
This artwork depicts Fluttering Shearwaters or Pakaha on the Hauraki Gulf; it also features the island of Tiritiri Matangi and the headland of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula in the background.
We often see these Fluttering Shearwaters which are endemic to New Zealand, on the waters of the Hauraki Gulf off Waiake our local beach.
Price including GST and delivery in Auckland.
The Artist
Vivien is a successful full-time artist and printmaker working from her studio on Auckland’s north shore.
Having trained as a textile designer in the UK, she now works predominantly in print media, producing small limited edition original prints on her etching press. These may be her lino/woodcuts and screenprint combinations or her unique etchings, monoprints and drypoints with chine collé; utilising papers, fabrics and found items.
Her passion for the New Zealand native environment - the birdlife, flora and fauna and her proximity to the seashore, make these her chosen subjects.
Vivien is an active member of the Print Council of Aotearoa New Zealand and various other local printmaking groups. She exhibits widely within New Zealand.
